What the inspector wrote

On February, 12 2025 , Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required - 3 Year inspection at the above-mentioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with licensee Elia Cabrera and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 1 child and an assistant were present. LPA in the company of the licensee toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The home is currently using 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and a living room. LPA observed the home to have sufficient space and ventilation for children in care. LPA observed the living room area to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed the kitchen to be accessible to children and that all drawers are free of hazards. LPA observed medication and sharps to be stored in an elevated kitchen cabinet beyond the reach of children in care. LPA observed the the bedroom that is used for children to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed the bedroom to be used for children the be free of hazards and to have napping equipment in good condition. LPA notes the play pens were free of loose objects. LPA observed some of the bedroom doors to have the ability to be secured with child proof locks and reminded licensee to ensure bedrooms are secured when children are present. LPA observed a portion of the home to be under construction (reported in 7/2023) and reminded licensee to ensure that construction areas are inaccessible to children in care. LPA notes the cleaning compounds are stored in the garage. LPA observed the outdoor area to be completely enclosed. LPA observed a storage shed in the backyard with a lock. LPA reminded licensee when children are outside to ensure the storage shed is locked. LPA observed the outdoor area to have sufficient equipment and space for children's activities. The FCCH has a smoke and carbon monoxide detector which was tested at 10:06 AM and found in working order. LPA observed the FCCH to have a regulation fire extinguisher which was serviced on 9/3/2024.LPA reminded license the responsibility to purchase or service a regulation fire extinguisher annually. CONTINUED PAGE 2 LPA reviewed a sampling of children's files which were found current and complete. LPA observed infants to have the LIC 9227 and for them to have current Safe Sleep checks. LPA observed assistants file which was found to be current and complete. Licensee and assistant completed Mandated Reporter Training on 10/2/24. Licensee completed Pediatric CPR/First Aid on 2/28/24 (expires on 2/28/26). To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. CONTINUED PAGE 3 Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the Licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. No deficiencies were issued during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Elia Cabrera. Appeal Rights were given.
