What the inspector wrote

On June 11, 2025, at 8:20 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gigi Reyes conducted an unannounced Annual Random and Capacity Increase inspection at the above Family Childcare Home (FCCH). LPA met with Licensee, Mckenzie Teniente and discussed the purpose of the inspection. FCCH operates Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Licensee provides care to children aged 0 month to 13 years old. LPA and Licensee toured the home. Upon arrival LPA observed 2-day care children and by 9:00 AM there is a total of 7 children in care \342\200\223 2 infants, 4 toddlers and 1 school age under the care of Licensee and assistant. Accessible areas in the home include the dining area, kitchen, playroom by the kitchen and fenced backyard. Off limit areas include 2nd floor, living room and the garage which are all barricaded and child safety lock are installed. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were observed, tested and found functional. Fire Extinguisher was serviced on 5/13/2025. Age-appropriate toys, books, playpen, and equipment were observed in the home. Children\342\200\231s bathroom is free of toxins. Sharps, medicines, and toxins are stored in the area inaccessible to children in care. The backyard is enclosed with a wooden fence. Licensee confirmed that there are no guns and ammunition in home. LPA did not observe any bodies of water. LPA reviewed the facility file and confirmed that Licensee holds a current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certificate with expiration date of 12/1/2025 while Mandated Reporter Training expires on 10/10/2025. FCCH conducts and documents fire and disaster drill every 6 months, last drill was conducted on 5/13/2025 Children\342\200\231s records were reviewed, Licensee checks and documents napping infants every 15 minutes. Infants under 12-month-old have complete Infant Safe Sleep Plan (LIC 9227) on file. On 4/16/2025, CCL received the application for Increase in Capacity. Santa Maria Fire Department granted the fire safety clearance on 5/30/2025. Because the Applicant/Licensee rents/leases the home, proof of landlord notification is required. The LPA observed the Property Owner/Landlord Notification form (LIC 9151) that the applicant confirms was provided to the property owner/landlord. The applicant has obtained a signed Property Owner/Landlord Consent form (LIC 9149). Licensee, was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee, and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee, the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. The FCCH is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS). IMS policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A notice of site visit was given to Licensee and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Mckenzie Teniente. During the exit interview, the LICENSEE, Mckenzie Teniente confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. During today's inspection, no deficiencies were cited. License for Large Family Child Care Home is granted and is effective as of today, 6/11/2025.
