Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

All staff interviewed, reported they had not been asked to go to work if they were out sick. Some staff reported tables, chairs and toys in the classrooms are wiped down and sanitized and children wash their hands after using the bathroom, touching their nose and mouth. And if children had a runny nose, they would call the guardian to ask about it. Children interviews disclosed most children observed staff wearing gloves while serving food, and cleaning tables, chairs, the floor and toys. Some children reported when children are sick their parents are called but they are not separated from the class. Other children reported sometimes they would attend day-care while they were sick and the staff would call their guardians to keep them home. One child reported they were sick while they attended the center and were not sent home. Most adult’s interviews reported the center will send out notification through email, and the KinderCare App to guardians to notify them of illnesses both confirmed or suspected. Some adults, reported they tried their best not to send their children sick, but they could have sent them to the center sick without knowing. A few adults reported they were called when their children were sick to pick them up. A few adults reported, they had observed children that appeared to have symptoms of an illness present at the center, and that a staff member was asked to work while sick. LPA was present at the facility on 01/27/25, while LPA was conducting head count of children and staff present, a staff reported to LPA they didn’t feel well and needed to leave. The staff was alone in a classroom with 12 children during nap time. LPA relayed the message to Center Director, who reported staff were currently on lunch breaks and there was no other staff to cover the class and stay within ratio. LPA reminded staff if they are feeling sick before getting into work to contact the center to prevent a sick teacher in the class with children. LPA reminded Center Director, of the importance of having additional staff for cases such as these were a staff member felt sick while working and needed to leave. Center Director stepped into the classroom to allow staff to leave for the day. Based on interviews conducted and records reviewed, although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, therefore the allegation is Unsubstantiated. This report was reviewed and discussed with Center Director, She was provided with a copy of this CIR; and Appeal Rights.
