Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

An informal conference was conducted virtually today with the Director of Childcare Services, Cheryl Moore, Regional Manager, Jordan Monath, Licensing Program Manager, Leslie Lepori, and Licensing Program Analyst, Mindy Mohr, to discuss circumstances surrounding the multiple citations and civil penalty issued in April following the supervision incidents that occurred at the facility. One incident involved a child being left in the outdoor play area between the inner and outer fences in which the child was briefly without line-of-sight supervision. Another incident involved a child who was left unattended in the outdoor play area for approximately eight minutes. Parties further discussed the responsibility or providing care and supervision, staffing, training, site supervisor oversight, staff accountability, and improved procedural changes. The Licensee has taken or agrees to take the following steps: · Facility has locked one of the gates with zip ties to prevent children from opening in accordance with fire inspector’s guidance. · Additional training to be provided to ensure staff fully understand the process of using the white board to keep track of the number of children in care. · Accountability of staff in following procedure when children come in and out of the outdoor play area. · Consideration of implementing a check off list or bell system to ensure staff are conducting sweeps and counting children as they come in from the outdoor play area. · An updated training plan and procedure to include supervision protocol will be submitted. The Director was advised of the possibility of additional inspections to ensure compliance with the plan of corrections put into place to assist with prevention of any further reoccurrence.
