What the inspector wrote

On July 18 th , 2023, at 12:07PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Breault conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA met with Director Rosa Valencia and advised her the purpose of the inspection. Director provided LPA a tour of the facility inside and out. At the time of the inspection there were fourteen (14) children and one (1) teacher present. Facility operates from Monday through Friday 6:30AM to 6:30PM. This is a combined center with Infant Center and Preschool Programs. LPA observed licensing required documents posted prominently on the wall at the entrance of the facility. Facility is currently using two (2) classrooms for care and supervision and utilizes the electronic application SproutAbout for purposes of signing in and out, as well as communication with parents and/or authorized representatives. The facility has sufficient restrooms which provide separate, individual privacy for children in care which were functioning at the time of the inspection. Facility provides breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and LPA observed monthly menu posted prominently. LPA observed kitchen to be clean, appliances in good order and free of rodents. Facility provides filtered water both inside and outside of classroom. LPA observed individual spaces for children to places personal belongings. LPA observed age-appropriate toys, activities, books, and furniture readily accessible for children to use. Combustibles, toxins, sharps, cleaning supplies are stored out of reach of children. First aid kits available. The outdoor play yard provides shade, grass, and age-appropriate play equipment. No bodies of water are present. The last fire drill was completed on 6/2/2023 and fire extinguisher last serviced 6/5/2023. Facility is reminded to service fire drill or purchase new one yearly. Per director, no firearms or ammunition are present on the property. Currently the facility is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS) to children in care. CONTINUED ON LIC809C LPA reviewed a sampling of children and staff records. Children records were complete and current. Staff files were observed to be current and complete. LPA verified SB 792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis Requirements. Teacher has Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificate expires 4/2025 and AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificate expires 3/9/2024. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. No deficiencies were cited during today's inspection.
