What the inspector wrote

On June 21, 2023, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Susana Martinez and Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required-1 Year inspection. LPA met with Mary Gossett and advised the purpose of the inspection. LPA's was able to tour the facility inside and out. At the time of inspection there were 4 children in the care of 1 staff member. LPA's observed required licensing documents mounted on the walls throughout the facility. Last fire drill was conducted on 3/16/2023. Classroom has age-appropriate toys and furniture readily accessible for children in care. LPA's observed enough restrooms available for children to use. The changing table was observed to be within arms reach of the sink. LPA's did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children. A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. LPA observed 5 out of 5 children's files to be complete and current. LPA reviewed one out of on staff files. CPR current with an expiration date of 9/2024. Director was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com . LPA verified SB792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis requirements. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of \342\200\234medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. CCC COMPLETED TESTING AND NO LEAD EXCEEDANCES: Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at htt ps://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. Infant teacher states she did not know she had to log them every 15-minutes. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Continued on 809-C One deficiency were cited today. One Type B which can be found on the attached 809-D. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted, appeal rights provided and report was reviewed with the licensee Mary Gossett.
